Large Turquoise Naja Pendant
Hand crafted silver pendant set with natural Arizona turquoise.
A naja style that (or najahe, meaning "crescent" or "bent" in Navajo) is a powerful symbol representing protection, strength, and cultural resilience. While its origins are found in Old World, pre-Columbian cultures as a protective amulet against the "evil eye," the Navajo adapted the design in the 19th century into a central element of their identity and artistic expression, most commonly found as the pendant on a squash blossom necklace.
Made by Navajo artist Calvin Belin.
